Christmas influences purchases:
I am IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT!
This past week or so, I’ve managed to find time to put up my Christmas tree, do some shopping–wrap gifts, and listen to Christmas carols. Tis’ the season…
Do your purchasing habits alter during the holiday season? Do any of you pay close attention to your consumer behavior? I’ve noticed that my recent “holiday spirit” and “Christmas cheer” attitude has influenced me to consume products that I probably normally wouldn’t purchase. For example, I don’t really watch a lot of TV…as a reporter, I get ENOUGH OF TV, and so I hardly ever sit down to watch a full episode of anything! Well…it’s cold outside, my Christmas decor in the living room is inviting, and my lit Christmas tree near the sofa have all lured me into the living room…to watch Lifetime Christmas stories.
And more than television persuasion, I’ve been persuaded by the “holiday bug” to purchase more chocolates…more ingredients to bake cookies, make cakes, and other sweet treats!
From commercials to radio advertisements, billboards, and much more–advertisement is persuading me to purchase some holiday cheer stuff!!
What are your thoughts on this? Am I the only one?
Here’s an interesting article that talks about media involvement during the holidays. I’ve also noticed that social media has played a larger role in my purchase decisions this year, than in years past. For example, on the Facebook Page for Victoria’s Secret, the company is reminding Facebook friends of upcoming discounts, ongoing promotions, as well as, printable coupons…a great way to draw in business!
