About Bridgette…or, “B” :)
Hello everyone! : )
Thanks for visiting my BLOG…
My name is Bridgette Borst, and I’m from Charleston, WV, but just recently moved to Wheeling, WV. I graduated from the University of Charleston with a BA in Mass Communications (Broadcast Journalism), and a minor in Applied Leadership Studies. As a UC student, I interned at WCHS News in 2006, and later worked as a Production Technician at WSAZ News in 2007; both of these stations are in Charleston.
Upon graduating from UC, I worked as UC’s Coordinator of Student Programs where I overseen all student organizations, planned regular events for the UC Community, and organized functions like Freshman Orientation and Homecoming activities. This position entailed a lot of marketing—whether it was to the general UC community, prospective students, current students, etc. I enjoyed the PR role in this job, and it provided me extensive experience with event planning. Despite my interesting role as the Coordinator of Student Programs, I decided to get back to my roots—TV News. This September, I moved from Charleston to the Wheeling area to work as a TV News Reporter for WTOV News9.
My interests include—singing, family, friends, studying culture, going to church, Italian food, sending cards to people (like birthday, “Thank you,” or congrats messages!). I enjoy meeting new people, and my favorite part about our ‘communications biz’ is being able to work and connect with *people.* I’m also a certified Zumba Instructor.
I’m looking forward to sharing ideas and updates with you all, to really understand and implement what’s new and upcoming media. I hope to become more knowledgeable about developing media trends and the ability to better reach viewers/consumers. Although I’m reporting right now, I’m very interested in returning to the marketing field in a role like “Dir. Of Marketing,” “Public Relations Specialist,” “Marketing Program Coordinator,” etc.
My favorite IMC medium is FACEBOOK! It’s great to stay connected with family, friends, former classmates, professors, co-workers, etc. Especially since I’ve recently moved, I don’t get to see many of my good friends from Charleston very often…Facebook allows us to interact, send messages/pictures that keep us up-to-date on eachother’s lives. Despite my hectic schedule, I always make time to Facebook. My social life is just as important as my professional life (so I remind myself). It’s so easy to loose contact with people, and allow distance to interfere with great relationships—Facebook is definitely my favorite “new” media that’s out right now!
Looking forward to interacting with you all and talking about the wonderful world of media! : )

Hi Bridgette,
I was looking for your work E-mail at WTOV and found your blog. (I tried to contact you on Twitter but it is over my head) I wanted to thank you for the report last Saturday on WTOV for the Strand Theatre. We enjoy having the concert and thanking the community for their support. I will stay in touch and set up a tour of the Strand for you. If it is in the winter…ware something warm. Thanks again. Tom
Hi Tom!
Thanks for getting in touch : ) Yes, my BLOG and Twitter accounts are both for my grad school class (that’s why the posts are educational-based!) Haha. But yes, feel free to contact me on here, or at my email at bborst@wtov.com. You’re welcome for the Strand Theatre coverage…I enjoyed meeting you folks! I’m excited and looking forward to being involved with the Strand Theatre.
Please keep in touch.
Happy Holidays,
B.
